My husband, Jim, grew up surfing Trestles, a world-famous surfing spot near our house, and wants our boys to have the same experience.But that may not happen. The proposed 241 toll road extension, which would cut through San Onofre State Park, threatens to ruin the surf break at Trestles, as well as coastal open space and water quality in that area.
On Wednesday, Feb. 6, the California Coastal Commission (CCC) will hear an application for the proposed toll road -- and hundreds of activists and opponents of the toll road will rally together at this meeting to send the message that Trestles should be saved!
The public is invited to take a stand, join the rally, and help save our park.

my brother loves to surf there! down with the toll road!
I first surfed Trestles in 1961. my son has surfed there. granddaughter will soon. I commute around and about in the area. the road would help. I checked the plan and the road actually ends a half mile from the beach at Basilone Road on Camp pendleton. no effect on the beach.
but isn't the area the road would go into an established wildlife sanctuary? (maybe i'm wrong - it's so beautiful, though - seems like it should be protected)
the EPA approved the route, according to a story in the Register. so one would assume it's protected.
well, i must say i feel torn on the issue - the less pavement in the world, the better, don'tcha think? at any rate - nice dialoguing with you. :)
